Sara James ATTORNEY

BIOGRAFIA

Sara James practices with passion and empathy at the Memphis office, where she is dedicated to guiding her clients through the complex processes of the U.S. immigration system. For Sara, the most inspiring part—though it may sound cliché—is precisely the clients: their patience, their strength, and their ability to persevere through a system that is often slow, complicated, and lacking in humanity. Being able to support them in achieving their American dream is, as she puts it, “an honor and a privilege.”

Sara earned her Juris Doctor in 2021 from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. During her time in law school, she demonstrated a strong commitment to social justice, serving as president of the International Law Society and actively participating on the boards of the American Constitution Society and the Public Action Law Society. She was also part of the Neighborhood Preservation Clinic, where she worked directly with the local community.

Before beginning her legal career, Sara graduated summa cum laude from the University of Memphis in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in English and Philosophy, along with an honors thesis. In 2017, she was recognized with the “Outstanding Student in Philosophy” award. During her undergraduate years, she led several student organizations, serving as president of the Pre-Law Society, president of the student chapter of Habitat for Humanity, and coordinator of the Alternative Spring Break program.

Sara is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and the Memphis Bar Association.

Outside the legal field, since 2017 she has been deeply involved with the nonprofit organization Operation Broken Silence, which works with Sudanese communities to build resilience and promote meaningful change through donor-funded programs. She has served as chair of the board and currently serves as its secretary.
