Other reports have stated the tanks at the plant contained gasoline blends, base oils, Xylene, Pyrolysis Gasoline, and Naphtha.
Reports indicate that in addition to smoke, soot, and ash, various chemicals may have been released into the air or environment including Benzene from the Intercontinental Terminal Company (ITC) Plant Deer Park Incident. As of Thursday, March 21, 2019, citizens of Deer Park, Texas have been urged to “shelter in place” out of a concern that Benzene has been released into the environment in the Intercontinental Terminal Company (ITC) Plant Deer Park Incident. Benzene is classified in various relevant industry safety publications as a dangerous chemical and as a known and/or potential human carcinogen.
