Background and Calling
Originally from the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas, Alexis Alvarez grew up in a border community where immigration issues are part of daily life. As the daughter of migrant farmworkers and granddaughter of members of the U.S. Bracero Program, Alexis developed a deep respect for the strength and cultural contributions of immigrant families.

Academic Background
Alexis earned her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Psychology from Texas A&M University. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
During law school, Alexis was an active member of the Latino Law Students Association (LLSA) and volunteered with organizations including the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network (RMAIN) and the Justice and Mercy Legal Aid Center (JAMLAC). She was also awarded the prestigious Robert B. Yegge Memorial Scholarship. Commitment to Justice
